Concepts of Educational Technology

Starting my journey in the Digital Learning and Leading program has been refreshing and inspiring. I chose this particular master’s degree because I want to learn more about the integration of technology in education in an effort to be an agent of change for my peers. Technology is the new language of this generation of learners. I cannot be an effective educator or leader without Technology literacy. To be a true leader in education, I need to make technology a fluid asset of scholars' educational voyage. Through this first course, I have learned and encountered 3 ways to lay the foundation to make this a reality.

The following products demonstrate my learning of the Growth Mindset, Learning Manifesto, and Professional Learning Networks.

A Growth mindset embraces challenges and uses them as stepping stones to increased intelligence. The fixed mindset is a belief that life is static and predetermined. Understanding the difference between the two and knowing how to gain a growth mindset through, Carol Dweck's 4 simple steps, can enhance levels of achievement (Dweck, 2006).

My philosophy begins with my "WHY". My purpose as an educator is to prepare scholars for a productive life. It is my motivation to help students contribute to society, support themselves, and live with a sense of purpose. My role is a life coach, not just a teacher. I desire to discover new ways of making digital connections across the globe and granting access to technology for all students. As a guardian of knowledge, I am dedicated to acquiring more insight into the digital world of learning and leading.

Professional Learning

Networks

I now have two accounts. One is for my role as AVID coordinator on campus (@JCMSAVID), in which I collaborate with other AVID schools and communities. Recently, I created a personal account (@MrsKRob15) that I will use as an opportunity to join other PLN’s. This will be used as a way to contribute and consume more insight into the world of education.

I have subscribed to different online communities over the years, but I usually don't make time to engage with them. Knowing that there is power in keeping afloat with current trends, I will make a conscious effort engage with my PLN's and seek more networking opportunities.
