At the end of the DLL course 5302, our assignment was to create an online portfolio that would be a continuous project throughout the remainder of the master's program. I love creating digital projects, so this particular assignment truly made me giddy! Using Lamar's COVA approach,
has given me the free will to design a website that expresses who I am as a student and a creative being. I've just started course 5303, which is all about dedicating time to the design and improvements of our ePortfolio. This has been the most enjoyable collegiate course I've ever taken, because it is truly all about the student's choice and voice. I am currently using Wix.com , for the first time, as my site platform. It's very user friendly and has several options of widgets that can be added to the site. Getting started was simple, as they had tutorials to guide me along the way. There were dozens of themed templates to choose from to lay a foundation for me to build upon. I haven't come across any cons or difficulties with this platform, yet. I explored Wix.com even though I have previous experience with building a personal site on Weebly.com for my own class. Weebly is pretty easy to use, but their options are very limited, compared to Wix. They don't have many starter templates or widgets to choose from once you get going. Some of the Weebly widgets have given me issues in the past . For instance, when I embed a document (Scribd) for students to see directly on the site, it frequently malfunctions. I have to delete and add again or try changing the size to extra small. It can be a bit frustrating when I'm needing to update my site in a hurry. Wix is definitely the better option between the two and I'm glad I tried venturing out to explore a new platform.
